David was a wonderful friend and colleague who helped to make my time as a tribunal member that much more enjoyable both as a convenor and as a fellow committee member. Passionate to a fault with a wonderful sense of humour he will be sorely missed.

I was very saddened by David's death. He was a lovely colleague- warm ,witty ,compassionate He brought his considerable intellect and learning to his role as Convener of The Mental Health Tribunal(Scotland) where we often worked together. He always ensured that the patient and his/her family were at the centre of hearings and treated people with respect and dignity. He had a droll sense of humour but could (when circumstances warranted it) be quite forthright in expressing his opinion. He is a great loss to The Tribunal service and to those who considered him a friend. Condolences to Sheila and his family whose sense of loss is likely to be acute. He is and will continue to be sorely missed
